Young Carers

young carers

The project provides a variety of support including;
1-2-1's in schools or the home for the young carer offering a chance to explore emotions and feelings, and work towards goals that will ease the stress of being a young carer
young carers respite clubs that offer support for young people to access some time out from caring and spend time with other children who understand what it's like to be a young carer
family support to access respite from caring, young carers assessments and short-term support
As expected not all young carers are known to the team. There are an estimated 2660 households in the area needing help. Sadly, only 661 are on their register at the moment. Tracey is keen that she is informed by the many authorities dealing with these families of any concerns they may have regarding families struggling to cope so that she is then able to access their needs before the situation reaches crisis point.
After her talk club members enquired on how we might be able to help and one of the areas Tracey was seeking help was to obtain funds to allow her to arrange a couple of trips out during the year for carers and their families. The trip would involve hiring a coach to take them out in the country or maybe Bournemouth at an estimated cost of 600 per coach, Tracey explained that families would be able to source their own refreshment.
